  I've had more visits to the Italian Consulate in Melbourne than most in the last 2.5 years, on my road to acquiring citizenship. Most of the staff are really friendly and helpful. The main thing to remember is you need patience and time whenever you come to the consulate. Appointments do run overtime sometimes, its a very busy consulate with lots of people requiring its services and much like any government agency, it never runs as smoothly as you would like.

  Service is in general is really good and the staff take the time to explain the process and provide advise and assurance.

  Went in for the first time here and I must say the service received was fantastic! The location was easy to find and if taking public transport the tram stops practically outside the door. Leave about 10 minutes to get through at Reception as the receptionist is very thorough and makes sure everything is in order for you.

  I had a very good experience at the Italian Consulate in Melbourne. Marco and Antonio helped me with application and were both very patient and kind. It was a pleasure dealing with both of them as they made my experience very smooth. Thank you!!

  Book your correct appointment online, show up on time, and allow extra time and be prepared to have to come back especially if trying for citizenship - its a long process and can be complicated depending on your lineage.

  Best way to contact the embassy is through email and my email was answered within a couple of hours.

  Grazie to Antonio - I had a very positive experience and thank Antonio for his patience, knowledge and precise instructions. All the documents he advised I required were all correct and on my next appointment and processed with ease. it helps if people are prepared to be guided by the staff and also read the provided criteria online prior to making an appointment as they are severely understaffed and work very hard. Thank you so much Antonio, you are a credit to the consulate.

  Extremely professional. I applied for recognition of citizenship and was able to complete the entire process in 1 session. Despite the reviews, I found this process to be firm but fair - exactly as you would expect the provision of something as significant as citizenship. Take your time, do your research and prepare your documents. Make sure your documentation is accurate before you attend your appointment! Very happy to be recognized as an Italian citizen :) Thanks to Antonio for making the process go smoothly.
